Pre-Insulated Block For Construction and Energy Savings

For projects where a higher R-value is required, New Holland Concrete can offer the designer several solutions for pre-insulated concrete masonry units.

Pre-Insulated units means the concrete masonry unit has special insulation installed into the block during production, versus installing the insulation at the job site.

Pre-Insulated units provide the following benefits:

• Saves job site labor costs because all units are delivered with the insulation already in the block.
• Work by other trades is performed with little danger to the insulation.
• The actual cost of insulation is a firm figure, as compared to estimating values used when insulation material is site installed (where labor efficiency may vary and losses may be sustained due to damage or theft).

New Holland Concrete provides several different insulated CMU options:

• Standard CMU with insulation.
• We insert insulation into the cores of standard CMU.
• Hi-R® Insulated Units.
• Hi-R® is a specially-designed concrete masonry unit that contains individually molded insulation inserts that provide full-face insulation, and a block design that reduces thermal penetration. This unit achieves higher R-values than standard CMU insulation.

Regardless of which option you choose, insulated units have no effect on the structural integrity of masonry construction.

You can order insulated CMU in our EcoBlox™ recycled-content mix, containing 30% post-consumer content. EcoBlox is available in all shapes, sizes and finishes, except Combed Face and Chiseled Face. All LEED® documentation is readily available to assist in your specification of EcoBlox.

We can produce pre-insulated CMU in any of our face finishes or colors.  All units contain integral water repellent admixtures at the time of manufacture, and meet or exceed all ASTM C-90 and National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA) standards.
